Well it could go either way....if the cavs do makw this trade it would be really good for them...they have options for wut to do to put shawn marion in the rotation...they can have him come off the bench, start him at power forward to have ben wallace come off the bench....or even have him start at small foward and move LeBron James move up to shooting gaurd, but even with Z out they can have ben play at center and shawn marion be at PF they have sooooo many options and even miami wants carlos boozer and anderson will prolly opt out and it will be a good trade for both teams

As a Cavs fan, this is a tough call. I love the way the Cavs are playing. Wally is doing a nice job off the bench, and Andy gives them great energy. That said, the Cavs are deep at guard, and they seem to really like their young power forwards as well.

I guess I didn't realize how much Marion could conribute on defense.

You're right, the Cavs should get the best player they can for Wally's contract, assuming he fits into the system, and Marion should. There's no sense in trimming salary because all that's going to do is weaken the team and push LeBron out the door in two years. However, if they acquire a guy that has a contract that runs longer than through next season, they can kiss their chances for Chris Bosh, Amare and Wade goodbye.

This Marion deal would give the Cavs an opportunity to test drive the Matrix and see if he would fit into their long term plans. I don't think the Heat will go for it unless they're sure they can clear enough cap space for Boozer next summer.

I would love to see the Cavs get Marion. Either way, I fully expect them to deal Wally's contract for a big name at some point this season. Marion's defense would be an awesome addition.
