Another point to make is the long-term effect of the trade. Had the Packers kept Favre, they might have been better this season (but given the way that Rodgers has played, there’s no guarantee of that), but what happens one, two or five years down the road? Had the Packers brought Favre back, Rodgers wouldn’t have re-signed and Green Bay would be left with a big hole at QB once Favre did retire. That could be this year or it could be two years from now, it doesn’t matter, they’d still be f#$ked at QB.

Now they’ve got their QB locked up and by most accounts, he’s a very good one. They need to address the defense and their discipline. Those are the reasons that the Packers are floundering at 5-7.

I’m rooting for the Jets. The better they do, the better the draft pick the Packers will get in return.
