For week 5
Matt schaub or kyle orton, Whats your thoughs on that? And how about domenik hixon gettin the start this week.. How do you think he’ll produce?
I’d lean Schaub, though Indy has actually been pretty tough against QBs this season. Orton has a great matchup (DET), so he’s a good start. I guess I’d go with Orton since he’s been hot and he’s playing the Lions.
Hixon is a sleeper this week. He should do okay (4-60, or something like that).
I pulled the trigger in the Sheffler for Shockey deal. Fingers crossed.
I have another trade question for you - this one is in my PPR league;
Some guy is desperate for WR and is dangling Addai as trade bait. He wants Chad Johnson and Matt Forte from me in return for Addai and a questionable WR (Hilliard, Mason, Josh Reed, Berrian, etc.)
I’m not sure if Addai is that much of an upgrade over Forte to make up for the loss of Ocho Cinco at WR (despite his QB). I also have Eddie Royal and Bobby Engram on the bench but I don’t think he would be interested in those guys.
My two other RB’s are Portis and Lynch so I’m kind of just rotating the three and playing matchups.
Thoughts?
I need a WR fill in this week, who is my best option?
Steve Breaston (Ari)
Roy William (Det.)
J. Galloway (TB)
P.Crayton (Dal)
D. Mason (Bal)
K. Walter (Hou)
A. Randle El (Was)
Sorry, forgot to add Justin Gage (Ten) to the list above
who do you think? RB- Bush, L.Johnson or J.Stewart(1 or 2 play) WR- Reggie Brown,D.Driver,V.Jackson,O.Cinco or R.Wayne(3 or 4) K- Gramatica or Vinatieri DEF- Bears or Pac thanks for L.J. advice last week.
firstly i have no QB, derek anderson sux and has a bye, the only option i have is Marc Bulger, vince Young,or Gerrard. Secondly should I drop Veron Davis for Owen Daniels. I am loosing pretty badly in the league.
Gator Bait - I’m not a huge fan of Chad Johnson this season as something just looks off with him and the Bengals’ offense, but I don’t think I’d trade Forte away with CJ in order to get Addai. Forte and Addai are fairly close, so I don’t think you’d be getting the better end of the deal if you were to pull the trigger.
Bob - Roy Williams has a great matchup this week and his griping about targets before the bye might get him a few extra looks this week. Breaston is a good play IF Boldin misses the game. In general, I like Gage and Mason for the rest of the season (especially in PPR leagues), but they have tough matchups this week.
Rob - Stewart has a great matchup with KC, but he’s splitting time, so I think I’d still go with Bush over him if you’re talking about a PPR league. If not, you can probably go with LJ (for sure) and Stewart. I’d definitely start Wayne every week. After that, I guess I’d go with Chad Johnson and Reggie Brown (though you could make an argument for Jackson as well). At kicker, I’d go with Vinatieri.
Ya Raj - Bulger is on bye as well, so he’s a no go. Garrard is definitely your best option (VY is still sidelined, right?). You might want to consider Orton (vs. DET) or Griese (vs. DEN). Definitely drop VD for Daniels. Daniels is much better and is much more involved in the offense.
The deal just sweetened…
Giving Up
Chad Johnson, Carson Palmer, Forte
Receiving
Steve Smith (Car), O’Sullivan, Addai
I think the trade makes sense now with Steve Smith in the deal. Although I’m not sure why he would want to give up Smith for Johnson. I guess he sees something in the Bengals that the rest of us don’t?
Pull the trigger, Gator Bait! Boo-ya!
Chris Johnson @ Baltimore or Jones-Drew vs. Pittsburgh? I have Johnson in at the moment on account of MJD’s lack of performance.
CJ hasn’t exactly been tearing it up either. I’d start MJD as he is likely to get a couple of opportunities at the goal line. Also, the Ravens were surprisingly decent at running the ball, so the Jags might have some success on the ground.
Garrard is definitely your best option (VY is still sidelined, right?). You might want to consider Orton (vs. DET) or Griese (vs. DEN).
Of the three,,who would you go with?THANKS FOR YOUR HELP JOHN..much appreciated. The projected score I am loosing 53 to 68 from my opponent
Actually JT Sullivan is now an option? between Gerrard, Orton o Griese? Who would you pick?
Thanks BRO! Raj
Thanks JP! My RBs,
Brandon Jacobs
Ernest Graham
Steve Slaton
Jonathan Stewart
McClain (Baltimore RB)
Who should I start? I need 2RBs and 1 W/R.
Ya Raj - I’d probably go with Orton, but I could make an argument for any of the three. Both the DET/CHI and TB/DEN are pretty likely to be high scoring, while the JAX/PIT game could very well be a low scoring affair. Thta said, DET has the worst defense of the three, and Orton has been solid the last two games, so he’s a strong bet to post good numbers. As for O’Sully, he has a tough matchup against he Pats who had two weeks to prepare. I wouldn’t start him unless I had to.
Bob - I’d probably go with Slaton and Jacobs. Slaton has a nice matchup with IND, who are really struggling against the run. Jacobs and Graham are close. Graham has the better matchup, but Warrick Dunn is eating into his carries, so I think Jacobs is a little more likely to hit paydirt. McClain is dealing with McGahee and a very tough TEN defense, while Stewart is still splitting time with D. Williams.
What are your thoughts on Selvin Young? Is now a good time to cut the losses and drop him from my lineup?
If so, how do you feel about Maurice Morris? It looks like he may get back into a split carry RBBC in the near future.
No, I think Selvin still holds more value than MM, especially with the way Jones has played in SEA. If Andre Hall or Michael Pittman were to go down, suddenly Young would be starter quality. As it stands, he’s not a bad bye week fill in and is roster worthy.
Bob - On second thought, maybe Graham is the better play against a bad Broncos rush defense. Tough call.
I need help with my WR’s for this week.
1. Brandon Marshall
2. Robert Meachem
3. Marvin Harrison
4. Antonia Bryant
5. Lance Moore
I know Marshall will be my number 1 WR but who would you start as your #2 and #3 WR?
Thanks
I would go with Lance Moore as my #2 - he’s been very hot of late. After that, it’s between Harrison and Bryant, and I’d lean Harrison due to career dependability.
JP,
In my Keeper League I have C.Palmer (Q/DAL) & JT.O’Sullivan(NE), neither option appels to me t/w. I can p/u either K.Orton (DET) or G.Frrott (NO). Who do you like?
In my “Money League”, I need to rebound, as picking the wrong WR has cost me 2 wins the last 2 wks. I have A.Johnson (vs IN), M.Harrison (vs HOU), De.Jackson (vs WASH) oe E.Royal (vs TB) - I need 2, who?.
Zookeeper - I think both Orton and Frerotte are likely to put up good numbers this week, but I think Orton is the safer bet. He’s playing DET and has been playing pretty good lately.
As for your WRs, it’s so hard to sit Andre Johnson down, but things don’t seem right with him. Jackson and Royal are playing the best ball right now, so I guess I’d go with them. (Be prepared for both AJ and Harrison to go off. You have four equally attractive wideouts, so it’s tough to pick two.)
Slanton or Lynch this weekend? Indy’s run D is awful
But it’s hard to bench Lynch.
ok i got 3 quick questions
1-qb should i stick with campbell or go with a prayer and start orton
2-wr for bye week replacement should i go
hixon
mechem
walters
mason
3- eagles def or seattle def
thanks
Chad - Slaton has a terrific matchup, but like you said, I don’t think you can bench Lynch.
Dave - One way to go would be to start both Campbell and the Eagles to cover your bases. If Campbell struggles, the Philly D will likely have a nice day and vice versa. It’s tempting to start Orton, but the Bears could get up by a couple of scores in that game and then try to run the clock out. I think I’d go with Campbell and Philly.
At WR, I think Kevin Walter could have a nice day if HOU goes into catchup mode, which is pretty likely. My second pick would be Mason if it’s a PPR league. If it’s a standard league, Meachem might be more likely to get behind the defense for a TD.
who do i start at wr: ocho cinco, a gonzelz, moore, a toomer
who do i start at W/R: All of the above plus r grant
JP,
TE starter: G.Olsen (v. Det) or A.Fasano (v.SD)?
Need some help
Peyton or Eli?
Panthers D or Pats D?
Driver or Breaston?
Julius Jones or Mewelde Moore?
Thanks for you help!!!!
Thanks JP! So, should I put
RB1 = Slaton
RB2 = Jacobs
W/R = Graham
Bench McClain and Stewart
I need help, Firsty I have no TE right now. My options are as follows:
Todd Heap
Benjamin Watson
Donald Lee
Greg Olsen
LJ Smith
Visanthe Shiancoe
Jerramy Stevens
In order to accomplish this, I have to drop either Seattle or Carolina? HELP, what do I do?
I need to think long term for Defense, b/c that will leave me only with one.
I forgot to mention I can also give up Vincent Jackson for a TE, instead of giving up Seattle.
Todd Heap
Benjamin Watson
Donald Lee
Greg Olsen
LJ Smith
Visanthe Shiancoe
Jerramy Stevens
Thanks
or I can give up Derek Anderson for one of the above TE’s
Robery Royale is another TE I can use.
Okay, let’s get caught up on these questions…
Gators - It’s tough to bench CJ, so if you can’t live with a 8-140-2 day if he happens to go off, then you should start him. I think the best bets are Moore at WR and Grant at RB. Grant has been bad, but with Rodgers hurting I think they’ll focus on the running game and ATL is suspect at stopping it. Moore is on fire and should be in your lineup somewhere. I also like Toomer, but I think Moore is the better play.
Zookeeper - Both guys are good plays and might score. I like Olsen a little better with Lloyd out for the Bears.
Stewart - Peyton has the better matchup. I’d go with him. At DT, that’s a tough call. Both are good plays. CAR is at home which is nice, but I think NE will be able to get to O’Sullivan a few times and maybe force a couple of turnovers. At WR, if Boldin is out, I think Breaston is the better play. If Boldin plays, go with Driver. At RB, this is the classic good player (Jones) with a bad matchup (Giants) versus a bad player (Moore) with a good matchup (JAX). I would go with the hot hand, Jones.
Bob - Yeah, I think so. Stewart is tempting, so if something happens to one of the other guys, he’s the one I’d put in.
Ya Raj - SEA DT has played well thus far, but they only have one easy matchup in the next 10 games, so I would cut them and keep CAR for this week. It’s not hard to do Defensive Team By Waiver Wire (DTBWW) week-to-week. (I cover it in my Love ‘Em & Leave ‘Em post each Friday.) You might be able to get SEA back if you want next week. As for those TEs, it’s a crapshoot, but I’d feel best about Olsen against the Lions with Brandon Lloyd out for the Bears.
John - Will someone buy you a beer already!!! Vincent Jackson or Calvin Johnson, Who should I start?
Calvin Johnson for sure. He’s been solid this season and the Bears struggle defending the pass.
Oh, and I’d love for someone to buy me a beer.
Hello:
A.
I have the following WR’s
1. DeSean Jackson
2. Amani Toomer
3. Ike Hilliard
Bench:
Justin Gage
Available on the wire:
1. Domenik Hixon
2. Jerheme Urban
3. Bobby Wade
I am a little un-comfortable starting Ike, even though he is projected at 14 points.
Justin Gage is a starter but has a tough match-up, so am not comfy starting him as well.
From the three above available options, which one should I go with. My gut feeling says go with Domenik Hixon, since he is going to start in place of Plaxico Burress.
B.
Also Big Ben or Trent Edwards?
- Big Ben has had a bad start so far
- Trent Edwards seems to be good for his real team and not fantasy owners.
- Matt Ryan - I picked him up as a Bye week replacement as I did not have any other options.
What would you recommend I do here?
Also, do you think it is ok to hold on to Maurice Morris, hoping he will spring back in week 6? I have no other running backs to fill in for bye weeks.
Should i try to get Slaton for Dunn on the waiver?
Which defense should I start this week… TB who’s at Denver this wk or Minn who’s at NO for MNF?? Thank You!
SMD - I would start Gage despite the tough matchup over Hixon or the other two. If you need to start three WRs, I would start the three you listed Jackson, Toomer, Hilliard.
At QB, I would go with Edwards. There is nothing wrong with a 230-yard, 1-TD average. Plus, he has a nice matchup with a sketchy ARI pass defense, so a multiple TD game is possible.
It’s okay to hold onto Morris, but it depends on who else is available.
Ya Raj - Definitely dump Dunn for Slaton!
Mark - Neither matchup is good. MIN @ NO isn’t as bad as TB @ DEN. Those are two of the best offenses in the league and both games are on the road. Is CAR available? They have a great matchup against KC at home.
CAR is available… i will snatch them right now! Thank you very much!!
Thanks John. Gage is listed as Doubtful, so there is no point in starting him. I’ll go with my initial line up then.
And I think I will go with Trent Edwards as I am not too confident on Big Ben.
Thanks for your advice. Now it’s a wait and watch thing
One other question
1. Jason Elam or
2. Matt Bryant or
3. Stephen Gastowski or
4. Kris Brown
Which of the above kickers should I go with?
SMD - Kickers are a crapshoot. I typically try to grab guys that play for good offenses so I’m guaranteed a few XPs each game. So if Matt Prater is available, pick him up. Carney is another good option. If neither are available, I’d probably go with Brown, since the game is indoors and it should be a fairly high scoring affair.
JP, I have Owen Daniel, should I drop Shockey? I ran out of roster spot Or should I drop Le’Ron McClain instead?
Should I drop J.Gage and pick up Kevin Curtis? I still need to fill a WR spot…
Or should I pick up Derrick Mason or Domenik Hixon?
Sorry, I just read Kevin Curtis listed doubtful will not play… what about Bernard Berrian or Roy William or Patrick Crayton or Ted Ginn Jr or Amani Toomer or Derrick Mason or Domenik Hixon?
I desperately need a WR! Thanks!
Sorry, 1 more, Kevin Walter?
Looking for some help. At RB (start 2) Starting Maroney & Morris of New England together, or sit which one or the other for Mewelde Moore. Which two would you use?
And Griese or Kitna?
I’d appreciate any help you can give me!
Should I play Felix Jones or Julius Jones week 5?
Kevin Walter or Reggie Brown as #3WR?
Thanks.
Sorry JP, after I did some homework, here are the new list,
which WR should I pick up?
Roy William playing against the Bears (rank 28th in pass defense)
Devin Hester playing against the Lions (rank 22nd in pass defense)
Amani Toomer or Domenik Hixon playing against the Seahawks (rank 25th in pass defense)
Kevin Walter playing against the B.Sander-less Colts (rank 2nd in pass defense)
Like you said, J.Stewart is tempting…
J.Stewart is playing against KC, 7th in rushing defense
B.Jacobs is playing against Sea, 2nd in rushing defense (concerns D.Ward may steal some carries?)
Would you play Stewart over Jacobs? But Stewart still sharing loads with DeAngelo William…
Bob - I’d go with Roy Williams at WR. At RB, I think I’d go with Jacobs. He’ll get the majority of the carries and all the goal line work.
Kregs - I’d start Moore and Kitna.
Mpeck - J. Jones and Walter.
at RB you said you’d start Moore, now for my other starter, which one: Laurence Maroney or Sammy Morris?
Should I start Prater or Carney as kicker in week 5?
Kregs/Jackoo - Sorry I didn’t get to your questions. I am dealing with my own fantasy teams on Sunday morning, so try to get your questions in by Saturday.
