Brian Cashman re-ups with Yankees
According to Newsday, Brian Cashman has agreed to a three-year deal to remain general manager of the New York Yankees.
STATEMENT FROM BRIAN CASHMAN
NEW YORK YANKEES SR. VICE PRESIDENT AND GENERAL MANAGER
RE: RE-SIGNING WITH YANKEES THROUGH 2011“I know I’ve said it before, but it’s an incredible opportunity and honor to hold the title of general manager for the New York Yankees. With it comes a great responsibility to ownership, the people who wear the uniform and our fan base.
“I’ve got a job to finish here. That’s the bottom line.
“I consider coming off a season where we didn’t reach the playoffs for the first time since 1993 as a personal challenge. I’ve never been one to run from a challenge, and I look forward to having the chance to go after this thing again.”
And with this news, it’s pretty much a guarantee that the Yankees will target CC Sabathia, A.J. Burnett, Manny Ramirez, Vladimir Guerrero, Mark Teixeira, Francisco Rodriguez, Adam Dunn, Carl Crawford, Ben Sheets, Rafael Furcal, Milton Bradley and Pat Burrell this offseason. Wait – that was going to happen with or without the club re-signing Cashman.

EXCELLENT ! This guy has been awfull.
I need a freakin’ agent! This moron spent 1.4 billion dollars over the last 8 years for a bunch of washed up players and got nothing in return. So now they pay him 2 million a year to buy all of the players listed in the article above. He’s a freak’n genius, I tell ya.
Only in New York, kids, only in New York.
Love, Joe Torre
Ok, How many of you guys out there would have a job at all if you have done what he just did ? He was the GM who spent almost $200 mill a year – open wallet, and had the best team on paper for eight strait years and came up – ” A Sad Failure ” ? I say none of us. He gets outsmarted or outplayed by GM’s with less money, less resources – LESS everything. The game is financially and economically set up for the yankees to win every day, every year.
Yankee fan will tell me that all decisions weren’t all his … OK then – he made enough of them in eight years and – well, why don’t he just Man-up instead of getting pushed around if he couldn’t do what he wanted ? He is a weak GM if you don’t agree with the first part of this. Please – three more years for this dude. Hey, I love it. I enjoy dissaray in Da Bronx – so I am glad he re-upped.
