Joba Could be Back in Yankees Pen
New York Yankees pitcher Joba Chamberlain will begin a throwing program today prior to the start of the New York Yankees-Kansas City Royals game at Yankee Stadium.
The team’s training and coaching staffs will observe his workout and determine if he will go back to the starting rotation or return to the bullpen for the last month of the 2008 season. Chamberlain has been sidelined with rotator cuff tendinitis since August 5th, and he is eligible to come off the disabled list this coming Wednesday.

If they’re smart they’ll put him back in the bullpen.
Why bring him back??? It is not like they are in ‘serious’ contention for any playoff spot in the American League.
Let him become healthy and play for 2009.
As a die-hard Yankee Fan reality has set in and even if they could make it as a wildcard Team it would be painful. Relax with Joba, see what is wrong and deal with it..But you can not convince me that going to the bull pen to come out and throw 100 miles an hour for 2 innings is worse than setting a 5 -6 inning pace. Sorry you can’t.
I had a friend by the name of Johnny Sain who knew a little something about pitching and he wanted his guys to throw hard every day…and if you ask the Braves, the Yankee’s and several Hall of Famers thay would tell you the same thing. The point is being in baseball shape..these Yankees are not. They are in shape to live at Trump Tower and be on a box of ceral.
In the bigger picture there are some serious problems going on here…forget the injuries for a moment…My problem is with the youth movement that started taking shape 2 years ago that got Torre in trouble. He did not like using young pitchers or rookies and he did pretty good…without them.
Neither the Yankee or her Fans have the patience for a youth movement..They don’t have the coaches, they dont have long range plans and the certainly don’t have the owners do that. PS, you cant sell 500.00 seats next year with Joey nobody starting either.
Stop the fooling around and reload, if Cashman wants a 100% youth movement then send his ass back to Tampa AA. You dont start the year with 5 rookie pitchers and expect to win it all….half of them are wrecks now..The Kennedy kid may never recover and what is the truth with Joba?
It doesn’t work for the Yankee people…
Thats good stuff right there Yankee Man – not bad.
