GTA - I did mention Sedrick Ellis, although not in the capcity you did, so maybe that was your point.

Either way I agree in that Ellis should be a solid addition to the middle of the Saints' d-line. And while I think they've definitely improved, I just wonder if they're getting over-hyped by the media at this point. (I'm sure the fine folks in NO are waiting to see if the D is actually improved or if the offseason additions are just false hope...)

You forgot to mention Sedrick Ellis at the DT position for the Saints. I don't think anyone that actually covers or follows the Saints thinks they will be a top-10 defense, but with Ellis up the middle, it will open up room for the guys on the outside (Grant and Will Smith) to have some room to move, as far as the linebackers are concerned, Vilma was an upgrade and should provide a good blitzing addition to the corps. All of these factors will at least take a little pressure off the secondary. We also have a couple of draft picks (Usama Young and Tracy Porter) that are expected to make some noise for a corner spot.

I think that the most over blown story is going to happen before Green Baty opens camp on Sunday...

I can see ESPN going ga ga over Farves trade....and it is going to be painful

I disagree with you in one place - of course, it's with the Packers. The Packers have done nothing to significant'y improve over last year. Rodgers might (and I really hope he does) play as well as Favre did, but I really doubt he's going to be significantly better.

The O-line is not good. If it was good, we would have gained more than 28 rushing yards or at least made a couple first downs sometime in the last three series of the NFC Championships game and been in the Super Bowl. The same guys return. Not exactly a recipe for domination.

TE is pedestrian at best. Donald Lee is an OK receiver. That's about it.

RB can only be as good as the O-line, and the O-line does not seem to be improving.

DT is a major problem with one gone to Cleveland and one up on drug charges. We have a history of sending such players packing pretty quickly. There is hope here that Justin Harrel can show us why TT thought he was worth more than Greg Olson.

DE will not get much better. Kampman is as good as he's going to get, and that's very, very good. I have hope that Kabeer might show more flash now that he's a specialist again.

LB is good but not dominant and strong side has question marks in coverage.

CB is aging. I expect Al Harris to need regular help this year.

SS has been a real question mark ever since Darren Sharper left and has a hard enough time covering their own assignments without having to back the aging cornerbacks. If one of the younger guys can step up, it might be time to move Woodson to FS and get away from all this one on one coverage on the outside.

Just my opinion.
And as I haven't given you the thumbs up recently - thanks for the solid writing, Anthony. You guys rock.

You're right A.S. - we have heard a lot about these stories way before the season. Lets see what happens.
