Tiger, Rocco Mediate head to sudden death at U.S. Open
Tiger Woods continues his masterful effort in the clutch, sinking a birdie on the 18th hole at the U.S. Open to force a sudden death with Rocco Mediate on Monday.
Mediate birdied holes 13, 14 and 15 to pull ahead of Woods by one stroke, but Tiger birdied the final two holes as Mediate pared, forcing the second playoff.
Here’s how the scoring broke down in the 18-hole playoff.

I think Rocco is in for it… he’s up against the best and definitely feeling the pressure. Being a gimp or not, Woods is going to win.
I’m Tigered-out. He’s the best and I don’t have a problem with it – but this show is getting old for me. Maybe it’s because he makes $120 mill a year and he had his dream come true about 200 times. I root for the other dudes now ……. let them have a dream. No sour grapes – Tiger is the best – I’m just not into another Sunday or Monday of fistpumping. I was for my Homeboy Rocco – and he played well. But the big checkmark steals the thunder………. again.

What Tiger gets he deserves. When he started out I didn’t like him. But, after watching him take on the “field” week after week, he is the best golfer that has ever lived. We should enjoy his ability and watching him take on everyone.
I don’t think less of a man because he makes millions of dollars. As I said, he has earned it and he has deserved it.
It’s tough for these golfers to have dreams when Tiger is their weekly nightmare.
Rocco will benefit beyond his wildest dreams just for going toe to toe with Tiger. Well done, Rocco, but Tiger is the best.
Like with any sport, most people fall into two categories, they root for the favorite or they root for the underdog. Isn’t it funny how rare it is to watch a game/event and not find yourself pulling for one person/team or another?
I was rooting for Rocco after I found out he hadn’t won a major and hearing him talk about how much the US Open title would mean to him. Of course, as soon as I start rooting for someone, that pretty much dooms them to failure, or so it seems.
