Kazmir's body of work suggests to me that he should easily be #1 on this list. He's already had three good seasons... no one else on the list can match him.

Maybe I'm missing the point, though. If we're only accounting for this season, yeah, he's been hurt (although he's been great when healthy, as you said). But I'm looking at this and seeing what they've done through their careers, as well as how good they are now.

Felix Hernandez is the most interesting case out of both "young guns" lists. He's been very good, but considering the hype, I think some people expected him to have had one of those "Doc Gooden in 1985" years by now. Maybe not on that level, but a breakout year where he established himself as one of the five or ten best pitchers in baseball.

Nice list, but I think you vastly underrate Felix Hernandez here ranking him below Fausto.

Hernandez owns a 3.94 MLB career ERA with a 418/136 K/BB ratio in 465.2 innings as well as a 62% groundball percent and he is younger than both Joba Chamberlain and Clay Buchholz, the top pitching prospects in the game.

I think Jaba will be fine - but after he goes 65-70 pitches, then what ? Farney ? There is a hole now that he is not there ?
Kazmir is awesome. I don't even consider him young right now. Clay of Boston needs more time down on the farm - very young. Sometimes the early no-no can work against you. Carmona is hurt. Felix has been hurt. Lincecum and Vosquez look great so far. Cain - on and off.

It s good to see a positive thing happening in Baseball besides who's taking what or who's doing who.

Chamberline is on the clock now so we'll see. I think they kid has the make up to be a winner unlike Kennedy. Kennedy appears to be in a funk since the trade rumors were all around. Shake it off kid, that's part of the game.

The second guy on the clock is Kazmir in Tampa...he's for real and number 3 in my game would be Carmona...4th is the kid in Boston.

All in all the guys noted are all bringing a fresh look to the game.

That's a great call SoxAddict. I think Chamberlain was overlooked last year by Hughes and Kennedy because no one knew when or if he would become a starter.

Let's not forget too that Hughes was one of the most highly touted prospects in any farm system last year. Injuries have certainly sidetracked a promising career.

It\\\'s interesting how Joba Chamberlain got so overshadowed by Kennedy and Hughes. He probably wasn\\\'t even an afterthought in your \\\'best young guns vol I\\\' post now he\\\'s topping this list.
