Let’s start with a leftover question from the week 15 thread:
Gators wrote:
Anyway, since i am in the finals for 200 big ones (no pressure), i have some questions:
point system for rbs and wrs: 20 yds=1 pt 1td=7 pts so td heavy league
rbs (pick 1): stecker, young, k smith, fargas
wrs (pick 2): s smith, c henry, roydell williams, chris chambers, hester, porter, furrey?
k (pick 1): longwell, gostkowski, scobee, reed, rackers, kaeding, josh brown?
DEF: (pick 1): ARI, KC, DAL, DET, TB, NYJ?
DEF point system: 1 td= 7 pts int= 2 pts fumble= 1 pt sack= 1 pt
shutout= 10 pts, 3-10= 7 pts, 11-20= 4 pts, 21-29=2 pts 30+=0
im being really exact cuz i want best advice for finals
I’ll post my suggestions a little later this week so I’m using the most accurate strength of schedule numbers.
for rb i can also pick up sproles, but i think its too risky of a start
Thanks JP for the second year in a row, I’m in the FINAL! In both of the leagues!
Start out with this team,
QB = Jon Kitna or Kurt Warner or Brodie Croyle or Chris Redman or Shaun Hill or Todd Collins?
WR1 = Reggie Wayne
WR2 = Plaxico Burress or Jabar Gaffney or Patrick Crayton?
RB1 = Willie Parker or Rudi Johnson
RB2 = Aaron Stecker or Michael Bennett or Fred Jackson or Darius Walker or Reggie Bush or Darren Sproles or Antonio Pittman or Chris Brown?
TE = Chris Cooley or Marcedes Lewis or Robert Royal?
W/R = Who from the above?
DEF = Jax or KC or Houston or Oakland or Cleveland or Detroit or New Orleans or Denver or Buffalo?
K = Ryan Longwell or Phil Dawson or Mike Nugent or Jason Elam or Shaun Suisham?
My other team,
QB = Tom Brady or Big Ben?
WR1 = B. Edwards
WR2 = L. Fitzgerald or G.Jennings or R.White?
RB1 = M.Barber or L.Maroney?
RB2 = F.Gore or A.Stecker or R.Dayne?
TE = J.Witten or A.Gates or D.Clark?
W/R = Pick one from the above? R.William, C.Johnson, L.Evans, C.Henry, W.Dunn, DJ Hackett, S.Holmes, A.Boldin, D.Branch, H.Ward, K.Walter, J.Cotchery, R.Brown, J.Jurevicius are also avaiable.
DEF = NE or IND? SEA, MIN, NYG, TB are also available.
K = R.Longwell or P.Dawson or M.Bryant? J.Hanson, K.Brown, S.Gostkowski, R.Gould, J.Brown, A.Vinatieri are also available.
Thanks!!!
For my first team, what about David Patten?
Sorry, 1 more, TE – Kevin Boss (NYG)…
one more addition to my first question,
for wr, i could also pick up patton, who every1 says is supposed to have a great game
All right, let’s do this.
gators – Kolby Smith looks like a very good start against a floundering DET team. Steve Smith and Chris Chambers look like your best starts at WR given the format. Gostkowski is a good start at K, assuming the weather is friendly. If not, Longwell has been pretty good lately and is kicking inside. TB is a great start at defense. You can pick up Patten (for Hester) if you want, but I’d start Smith and Chambers.
scorpion – For your first team – Warner is a nice start against ATL. Burress, Parker, Stecker, Cooley, Rudi at the flex, JAX DT has a nice matchup with OAK, Go with Longwell at K. I wouldn’t mess with Patten or Boss.
For your second team, Brady, Braylon, Fitz, Barber, Gore, Witten, Jennings at the flex, NE at DT, Gostkowski at kicker. (If the weather looks bad, switch to Vinatieri.)
Good luck!
thanks for advice whole year, now lets hope that gets me 200 dollars
Thanks JP, do you think P.Dawson will have a better chance to score more FG since they will be playing Cin. (vs. Longwell against WAS).
Dawson has a mildly better matchup, but he’s playing on the road outside and the weather looks iffy for Sunday (38 degrees with rainshowers). I’d rather go with Longwell who has been good lately and is playing indoors. If the forecast changes between now and Sunday, then Dawson is also a good start.
should i start rivers rosenfels, or croyle in my td heavy league?
gators – I like Rivers this week against a Denver defense that has been fantasy friendly to opposing QBs.
JP, do you think Rudi is a dangerous start? He has missed practice for 2 days…
Should I be concern? Should I start Chris Henry (WR) or Reggie Bush or Patrick Crayton or Jabar Gaffney or Darius Walker or Michael Bennett or Darren Sproles?
or Chris Brown or Fred Jackson or Mike Furrey or Drew Carter or Ike Hilliard?
sorry… just a bit nervous on the Championship week…
i’m screwed, Fast Willie went down
Of that group, I’d go with Patten in place of Rudi.
THANKS JP!! Should I start Plaxico or Patten as my WR2 if I start Chris Henry on my W/R spot. And for my Kicker, should I go with safe indoor Longwell or potential high scoring event Phil Dawson? My concern is the wind in Cincinnati today, and it is an in State rival game… and it is at Cincinnati this week, not at Cleveland like week 2…
I would go with Plaxico and Patten. At K, I think Longwell is the safest play of the bunch.
Yes, start Wayne. It looks like Indy will play their starters. If Kenny Watson is available, I’d start him over Patten (along with Burress).
So, I’m interested to hear how everyone finished this season.
In nine leagues, I had two first place finishes, three second place finishes and a third place finish. Not terrific, but pretty solid overall.
