Hey Nick - I love keeper questions!

First of all, I like how your league handled the decision to go keeper mid-season. So you get to keep one player - who should it be?

I agree that your decision comes down to Manning, Peterson and Owens. There are knocks on all three: (1) Manning is a QB and there is a ton of parity at the position (2) Peterson seems to be injury prone (3) Owens is getting on in years and is fairly undependable as a person.

I would keep Peterson if he comes back healthy this season. If his injury lingers, or if he gets injured again, I'd give Manning a serious look. Owens is 34 and is probably going to hit the wall in the next 1-3 years. Just look at what happened to Marvin this season. At some point the good times have to end.

If Peterson comes back, he gives you a first round caliber guy that you can build around. If he continues to struggle with injury, then Manning is worth a look, but it depends on how AP is doing next summer.

I think AP is your guy, but make sure you back him up with Chester Taylor in next year's draft!

JP,
I was wondering about the keeper leauge I'm in and who I should keep for the future. We just started so the first year we are going to keep only 1 player and next year we are going to keep 4. - We drafted without knowing that we would turn it into a keeper league so that is why we are only keepin g1 this year to make it fair.So - Anyways - too make this long story short who should I keep??? PPR League
P. Manning, D. Anderson
M. Harrison, T. Owens, D. Branch, K. Curtis, J. Jones, T. Ginn Jr.
A. Peterson, T. Jones, C. Benson, R. Grant, J. Fargas
J. Witten

I would like to keep A. Peterson, of course, but he seems to get hurt alot. T. O. is blowing it up too and R. Grant keeps playing like this he might be a stud. Then again P. Manning could blow up next year too. Who do you think?

gators - tough call, but I'd go with Smith, Colston and Hackett.

scorpion - I don't think I'd pick up Keith for any of those guys. He had a nice game because Addai missed a few series, but he came back in so I don't think he'll miss any time.

Nick - Benson has the better matchup, but Fargas has been a little more trustworthy. I think Justin will give you a game in that 11-17 point range, but Benson's range is probably wider, something like 7-25, since he plays DEN and could score once or twice. I'd say if you're looking for some sure points, go with Fargas. If you're looking for upside, Benson might be the play. Close call.

tarheel: I don't think Hester has a lot of fantasy value in most leagues, unless they award points individually for return TDs. I'd probably dump him for Chambers first and Stokley next.

BT: NO has the better matchup, but you might want to look at picking up ARI, KC or SEA this week. They all have better matchups and better defenses...I would start Portis, Jones-Drew, Andre Johnson and Lee Evans. The other guys have bad matchups or are coming back from injury.

Scorpion: I'd go with Kitna, though the matchups are close. He has a better chance of playing catch up this week as he faces a good GB team...at WR, I'd go with Burress - great matchup and a week for that ankle to heal. At W/R, Henry looks like a nice start.

WonderPets: Your questions look quite similar to Scorpion's...hmmm....I'd go with Brady, Taylor and Barber, but sub in Gore for Taylor if Peterson plays. Gates has the most upside at TE. Jennings is a good start at your flex, though you could start Gore if you wanted some sure points.

WonderPets, II: Gore and Barber have the most long term value, but Taylor has the most short term value. Is this a PPR league? I like Holmes, Hackett, Cotchery, Berrian, Cal. Johnson, C. Henry and Morris, in that order.

Gators: Given your league's scoring system, you could do that trade, but you'd be depending on Smith to be healthy as one of your WR. I would only do it if I had a fourth guy that I could depend on if one of those WRs got hurt. Rivers has great matchups in weeks 15 and 16, and Colston has a great matchup in week 15, so I’d probably stand pat, unless I had a good WR4 to stick in there if Smith is out.

Gators II: Westbrook for sure, and I'd probably start whoever starts for DEN - they have the Bears, who don't have the rush D they used to have. If you're leery about starting a Shanahan RB, my next pick would be Smith, who has a great matchup against OAK.

JEC - The matchups are fairly close, but Berrian's is better and he's been pretty solid of late. Branch is still working himself back in, so I'd wait to see how he's going to fit in with the SEA offense before I'd start him in place of Bernard.
