The Red Sox have a payroll that totals $89 million more than their World Series counterparts, the Rockies. So why aren’t baseball fans criticizing Boston the way they do the Yankees for, “buying their team”? Are we as fans applying a double standard in the case of the Red Sox? Thats a simple question and here is a simple answer for all you math experts - Because the yankees still spend WAY more money than than anyone else - and have been for 30 years. How the hell can a yankee fan begin to start chirpping now ? - They started this crap and now we all pay up the ying-yang to go to a game. I’m a Red Sox fan and I hate it. At least I will admitt it. More than my Good Friends - the yankees will do.
What ? No Salary cap is a problem now for the Yankees ? Screw-em - they started all this disparity years ago.
I hope Mark Cuban buys the Cubs - goes wild, spends $300 million and kicks the yankees ass for 10 years ….. oh yeah, then somebody notices (Like Bud and the Union) and they install a Salary Cap. Hello ….
The crying is over….Boston Fans have nothing to complain about anymore. You decided to step up, pay the money, make the trades and what ever else was needed to be number one.
Go enjoy it and don’y worry about the Yankee because you are just like them like it or not.
P.S. get ready for next year because the Stienbrenners have no plan to fail because they decided to get a new manager. My guess is they will do whatever it takes to prove a point
Boston’s not crying. They have a game tonight. The topic was about the double-standard and the Big Markets. Look, the Yankee fans complain about Boston because they are within $60 million ? The closest it’s been in many years ? Thats the same ? Oh, and the yankees complain about the Devil Rays of the world because they don’t spend $200 million ? Which one is it ? I know - whatever the yankees do - because it’s always about the yankees right ? Whatever they do is always the best way and the rest should follow suit right ? OK -
Get ready for next year ? What are you saying - they didn’t want to win the last 7 years ? Just waste money ? OK.
So next year it will be Hal or Hank Steinbrenner making the calls ? What do we call these guys the HANKEES ?
I told people for the last 2 years that the Red Sox are nothing more than the Junior Varsity Yankees. For years they stated the truth in that the Yankees were destroying the league with having such deep pockets and being able to pay enormous salaries without batting an eye, which drives up the price tag for other player’s salaries. And they complained that they couldn’t compete. And i agreed with them wholeheartedly. But now they’re the JV Yankees. I like the Red Sox, but can’t stand Manny Ramirez. I hate the Yankees, but there isn’t anyone i dislike on their team. Many of the Yankee players are overpaid and over-hyped (Bobby Abreu, Roger Clemons for instance), and they’re getting old as a team. So maybe this will force them to re-think their ways. But even if they do, then the Red Sox become #1 in payroll. What will they say then…?
It’s because there is no salary cap my friend … it all stinks. The yankees forced everybodys hand for 33 years …….. we need a cap out there. It sucks.
