Rams quarterback Marc Bulger recently hinted to Sirius NFL Radio that he would holdout if he doesn’t receive a new contract by training camp. He told the St. Louis Dispatch that his comments were blown out of proportion, however, and that he’d like to stay a Ram.
“I’d love to finish my career here,” he said. “I know everyone says that, but being seven years in one place, I know I’m fortunate and I’ve had a blast here. . . . Hopefully we can get something done so I can finish (here) and we can win a couple of Super Bowls.”
It’s very likely the team gets a deal done with Bulger, considering the options the Rams have at quarterback on their roster, as well as what’s available on the free agent market (i.e. Aaron Brooks).

Let’s see…Bulger has a career Pro Bowl season as a bonefide Top 5 NFL QB and seems to have reached the prime of his career of his career. Now, the Rams want to make him happy, correct??? This seems like a no-brainer…don’t tell me the Rams are actually concerned about age here…say it ain’t so…
This is very similar to the Larry Johnson saga.
Maybe it’s just me, but I really don’t understand the logic in not extending the contracts of these two Pro Bowlers who have carried their sub-par teams and happen to be at the top of their game.
Why rock the boat? Bulger is a proven veteran…this isn’t like a Tony Romo 1-yr wonder who’s asking for a lucrative deal…am I off base here?
Forgot to put my name on that last post…
Gator Bait – hell no you’re not off base. Bulger has been a steady performer since he took over the Rams’ starting quarterback job in 2003. He passed for over 4,000 yeards last year and has ranked in the top 13 of QB rating since ’03…
I don’t think age is a factor here with Bulger only being 30, and they certainly have the cap space. I think this deal will get done in the next week or so and Bulger will be there for at least another four or five years.
St. Louis has to know what its options are if they don’t re-sign Bulger…and they’re not pretty.
I wouldn’t expect this to be a problem. I think he will sign real soon also.
