General Manager Brian Sabean recently commented that the Giants might be sellers come the July 31 trade deadline, and the possibility of Barry Bonds being traded isn’t out of the realm of possibility.
That spurned San Francisco Chronicle columnist Bruce Jenkins to at least toy with the notion Bonds would be traded and where he might go. Jenkins brought up the Indians, Tigers, A’s, Angels and Red Sox before squashing those teams for just one: the New York Yankees.
I doubt this would ever, ever, EVER happen because the Giants’ top brass (i.e. Peter Magowan and Larry Baer) are concentrating more on getting Bonds to pass Hank Aaron’s all-time home run record in a San Fran uniform than winning ball games. And if you question me on this, check out the Giants’ putrid lineup these days and then make note that they unexplainably have the 12th highest payroll in the league and next to nothing as far as young position players.
Regardless, could you imagine what the Yankee haters would do if Bonds does wind up in pinstripes? Nevertheless Yankee fans who hate Bonds? Lets hope for the sake of baseball and hell, the human race in general, this doesn’t happen.

Shortly after he breaks the record, you’ll see him traded to the Angels. He’ll still be in California and also with the team who will win the championship this year. How fitting for this cheater to break the home run record and win a penant all in one year!
btw……..I had the Angels all year!
The answer is simple – ” If the Yankees WANT him – they will get him. ” Just like anyone else.
A-Rod
We have enough problems without this meat head……….
Dawger – interesting take on the Angels, but I think other than him moving to DH and staying in Cali, it doesn’t work.
Bonds doesn’t fit in the Angels’ “all for one” clubhouse system. He would wreck the vibe and plus they already have more than enough DH options (Vlad, Garrett Anderson, Casey Kotchman, etc.).
Put Barroid in pinstripes…??? So basically the Yankees would be replacing one chemically enhanced DH (Giambi) for an upgraded chemically enhanced DH (Bonds). So let me get this straight for the Giants…. Their whole season is built around getting Bonds the record and then right before he breaks it, they ship him off? Oh the irony….
After he breaks the record, he’ll only play when he wants anyway, so he could be a revolving DH on the CaliforniaLosAngelesAnaheim Angels……..
Come on, they still cater to this lieing cheat! They want him to have the ring, too!
As BoSox pointed out – the Yankees already have a lying cheat, so they’ll just re-cycle Giambiod for Bariod and call it a day!
I could see Bonds heading across the Bay to the A’s over the Angels…I just don’t think the Angels need the player or the headache, where as Oakland actually could use a DH.
Bottom line is, if Bonds doesn’t crack the home run title before the trade deadline, he’s not going anywhere anyway – plus he has a no-trade clause in this contract and loves San Fran. Think about it, SF is the only place where the guy is somewhat liked, why would he leave other than to get a ring?
Have you seen the size of this guys noggin’? He don’t care if people like him or not!
Now that you mention it…….A’s are about to make their 2nd half run…….
His head is that big because of the riods Dawger – pay attention!
