Is Deron Williams better than Chris Paul?
The Utah Jazz took a lot of heat for drafting Deron Williams over Chris Paul in 2005, especially when Paul ran away with the ROY award while Williams spent half the year on the bench. But now that Williams has the Jazz in the conference finals, the doubters have been silenced.
In my latest column, I explore the reasoning behind the pick and take a look at the numbers both players have put up since they entered the league.

If you think chris paul is even clost to as good as Deron Williams you need to quit thinking because you are so wrong. Deron Williams is by far the more superior guard. He is a better and more versitile scorer. He can score anywhere on the court. Willimas is bigger, stronger, was second in assists behind steve nash, (not to mention ahead of paul), and can hit the clutch shots at the end of games, he did it all season. And one more thing, williams can throw it down!! Paul would be lucky to touch the rim.
OK, I will quit thinking because I am so wrong.
Deron Williams may have passed Paul with his strong playoff run, but he isn’t “by far” the superior guard. It’s a close race, and it’s one that I will watch as long as they’re both in the league.
Well, although this is a close call, i think the teams will finnaly decide this one, paul is playing in the southwest, where there is not as mutch talent. He can more easily get a playoff spot with the only trouble being the spurs, since thay can beat the Rockets and Mavs (again) with not to much trouble. The northwest is a bit harder since there is more talent w/ Denver and Portland. But Dwill plays a almost college like ball where every one touches the ball on most posetions. Think about it, Paul has to things going for his statistics: fast play for easier stats, and less tallent. The Bugs have Peja for three and not mutch else, Tyson in dunks, but very limited, although West is pretty good, he doesn’t match the statistics of Boozer, who gets 20 and 10 most nights, Mehmet Okur, the best shooting true center in our leauge, ronnie brewer, a rising player who is heading for around 20 a game, andre kirelenko the one man stat filler, and a deep bench. Still he manages to get 20 points and 10 assists every night. Also, he is bigger, stronger, almost as quick, has more expirence, is a good player in any offense, and is almost imposible to shut down because of his much better J than Chris. But i will take the one you dont choose, both being MVP quality. I say dwill wins a ring before chris, but chris gets a statue before deron. Who knows, the next Bird Magic rivalry? Nah, its better than that. Enjoy the Diamond Age of the NBA folks.
