ESPN’s bigger hard on: Bonds or Clemens
After seeing highlights of yet another Roger Clemens minor league pitching recap and checking out its home page which features two separate articles on the two MLB stars, I’m wondering who ESPN has a bigger hard on for, Barry Bonds or Clemens?
Ever catch a Giants’ highlight anymore? Me neither. I see Bonds flying out, walking and singling, but no actual San Francisco Giants highlights. Do they even bother with posting the final score anymore? And Clemens, do we really need to see how he struck out a minor leaguer who will be working in Target’s CD section next week? Can we get back to just showing the highlights of the previous day please? I can’t even watch Boo-Yah Center anymore.
Anyway, I’m giving my vote to Clemens right now, but just because Bonds has been in a mega slump (he hit a bomb on Sunday, but that was his first since May 8th). Once Clemens makes his 2007 debut, Bonds is going to come storming back into the picture. So, ESPN’s bigger hard on, Bonds or Clemens? Voting is now open.

Clemens – showing countless minor league clips is just so pathetic.
I hate Bonds, but at least he represents a real news story.
That said, both are so overexposed it’s ridiculous.
I’m with ya…I don’t need to see Rocket mowing down some single A hitter with the reporter saying “Clemens really had great stuff today…” and then when he struggles with AA it’s “should the Yankees be concerned? has Clemens lost it?”
However, Bonds gives ESPN the biggest boner. I think Pedro Gomez is like that dude in the NFL gear commercials hiding in the blocking dummy or laundry basket to get even closer to him…tell me he doesn’t want Baroid to give him some man-sex right there on camera?? When he’s reporting on Barry, the smile he gets makes him look like the ugly chick who got asked to the prom by the varsity quarterback…
With 24 hour news and sports networks, these boneheads report everything…it’s painful!!
Haha, good poke at Pedro Gomez on Bonds T-Bone…there’s definite “man love” there for Bonds.
Although, it’s no worse than Ed Werner’s affection for the Dallas Cowboys or Sal Paolantonio’s love for the Philadelphia Eagles…

I don’t care much for Werder but I think Sally Pal is a pretty good reporter. Ever notice when Peter Gammons is reporting on the Yankees he looks like he’s smelling a turd?? I’m happy to see these guys believe in unbiased reporting!
Difference is, these guys love their teams…Gomez loves him some Barry!!
Do you think that Gomez gets into all of this since he’s the only guy that ESPN sends to cover the Bonds stuff? Or do you think it’s pure man crush? I almost think he gets off on the fact he’s the only “Bonds reporter” on the network.
I don’t mind Paolantonio either, but if the Eagles and Cowboys are going to get their own specific reporter, why not have one for every team? Pay one of the beat writers on the Denver Post to cover the Broncos…NY Times on the Giants and Jets, etc.

His head is so far up Bonds’ ass, he’s got needle marks on his forehead!! Man-crush doesn’t even describe it.
I’ll open up a can of worms here. I think Bonds requested Gomez and because of that, Gomez shows a bit of loyalty in his reporting. How else can we explain the access that ESPN seems to have with Bonds that the other sports networks don’t? They wanted him to do the reality show…he agrees but on the condition that only 1 reporter from their network covers him and that’s Pedro.
If a guy is hiding something, he’s got a better shot at concealing it from one person than having several pairs of eyes on it. And if he can align himself and get that guy to defend him, so much the better.
Conspiracy Theorist
Those are good points/observations about Gomez, T-Bone…I could buy all of those.
Hey Pedro,
Give us an update on Barry’s girlfriend please.
