While I vastly believe they got solid football players in Johnson, C.J. Davis, Alexander and Francis, they rarely got good value for any of their picks (as you pointed out Dougie). They reached on many of their selections and I think passing up on a solid LB prospect in Paul Posluszny to take a quarterback in Drew Stanton who won't see the field anytime soon (plus isn't a tremendous prospect to begin with), was a head scratchier in my opinion. Plus guys like Francis, Stanton and Alexander are players Millen dubs as prospects Detroit has to "coach up", meaning he believes they're raw and will need experience in order to be impact players. And as far as trading the picks, I really believe Millen zeroed in on those 5th round picks and said to himself, "I'm going to trade these no matter what. I'm going to trade up for guys high on my board (Alexander) and package some of those 5th rounders just so I get my guys." I don't think he had to do that in landing some of the players he got. All in all, we won't know how these guys are going to turn out...they all might be Pro Bowlers someday, we don't know. But as far as a pure value standpoint, the Lions reached on many picks and this class might take a while to develop, if ever. AS DF,

I would also probably touch on a "not so good" draft day move or perhaps just add to your point on the horrid Lions. When they traded Josh McCown (who they loved and was their heir apparent) AND Mike Williams (his bust-ness aside this kid was a top 15 pick) for a FOURTH ROUND pick.....AND THEN TRADING THAT PICK?! As a Bears follower, Jerry Angelo loves the trade down, and it can dramatically help your team acquire more picks but WTF was Millen thinking? From a pure value standpoint they got robbed and then traded down for a few more 6th round picks (if I remember correctly).........some people just love to play the victim I suppose, yikes. Gotta like the Bears chances to take the NFC North crown again this year (will refrain from obvious Denny Green remark here). Good wrap up Tone.
