Take The Arizona Diamonbacks Over Washington @ 7:05 EDT
Just about anytime you can go against the Nationals this season without having to lay a big price your probably doing the right thing as is the case today. The Diamondbacks might be young, but their youth is top-notch. This lineup has plenty of good hitters. There’s not a lot of power but offensively they’re far superior to Washington. Jason Bergmann, the starter for Washington was terrible in ’06. He had a decent spring but we don’t expect much from him. Arizona’s Edgar Gonzalez (tonight’s starter) came into his own last season after shuttling between Triple-A and the Majors from 2003-2006. His strong showing in 11 games (five starts) with the D-backs last year made him the frontrunner for a spot in this year’s rotation. Followed that up with a solid spring in which he won his first four starts. This one’s pretty simple. Take the team with the better hitting and the better starting pitcher. You’re only laying a buck twenty.
