Bulger vs. CHI, Pennington vs. BUF, or Vince Young vs. HOU?
My gut tells me that CHI is going to slice through the Rams line and make a meal out of Bulger’s tender ribs! However, with Grossman on the other side of the ball, I also feel that Bulger may have more opportunities if he can survive. Do these additional opportunities outweight the risk of the CHI Defense?
Pennington and Young have good matchups but they are both up and down. I don’t know if I can bring myself to start a rookie QB for my wildcard matchup.
I was thinking of benching Steven Jackson in favor of Ladell Betts this weekend. I also have Gore who (against Green Bay) will not be sitting. Good idea? Will the CHI D shut down the STL run game?
Does it make sense to start Vince Young (@HOU) over Vick or McNair? It seems that Young has gotten the best numbers the past few weeks and he will be facing Houston.
Gator – It feels strange to type this, but bench Bulger this week for Young. If you’re gunshy, Bulger is an OK start, but I’m worried about his ribs and, more importantly, that smothering Chicago defense that allows the fewest points in the league to QBs. Young has been great and has solid matchup with the Texans. He’s a sure bet for 5-10 points just from running the ball, so he’s a good play this week.
Leon – I would keep Jackson in the lineup. The Bears are 15th in points allowed to RBs, so the Rams will probably try to run the ball more than pass it. But S-Jax has been very active in the passing game as well. I wouldn’t bench the #3 RB this week. My recommendation is to go with Jackson and Gore.
JP – My playoff life is on the line here and I’m putting it all on you this week my man.
I need three out of this lame group:
Chris Chambers
Devery Henderson
L.J. Smith
Matt Jones
Roddy White
Joe Horn
Greg Jennings
Donald Driver
Thanks,
-AS0
Anthony – Start Driver for sure. He’s the #9 WR this year and is going up against a suspect SF defense. Jennings has the same matchup but has struggled since he suffered an ankle injury.
If Colston is out, Henderson is an attractive start.
I’d go with Driver, Henderson and Chambers. If Colston is back, I’d go with Driver, Chambers and Jones.
Good luck!
Would you start Tony Romo vs. New Orleans, or Peyton Manning vs. Jacksonville?
Which three receivers would you start?
Torry Holt
Chris Henry
Laveraneus Coles
Jerricho Cotchery
Marques Colston
Devery Henderson
And finally, for 2 RB slots:
Marion Barber (will be starting)
Maurice Jones-Drew
Kevin Jones
Julius Jones
Thanks!
It’s playoff time!!!
In one of my leagues I must decide between The St.Louis D (Home vs. Chi) or the NYG D (Away @ Car.).
Who is the better play t/w? Do I play against Grosman’s struggls, or vs. Winke starting for the first time in several yrs.?
AMR – Man, it’s tough to sit Peyton. Romo has averaged 20.4 ppg in his seven starts, while Peyton has gone for 22.0 over the same span. The big question is the matchups. The Saints have allowed the 5th most points to QBs (20.5) while the Jags have allowed the 29th (12.0). The first time the Jags/Colts met, JAX held Manning to about 15 points.
I guess I’d start Romo, but like I said, it’s tough to bench Peyton.
WRs: Holt is a must start, no matter who he faces. As for the other two, I’d probably go with Coles and Colston/Henderson (depending on Colston’s status). Another option would be to go Holt/Coles/Cotchery, which would lock up most of the Jets passing game. Henry is too erratic to be counted upon during the playoffs.
RBs: Marion Barber and KJ (if you get points for receptions), Drew would be a good start if you do not.
Zookeeper – I’d go with the Rams. They have a slightly better matchup and they are at home. Grossman could throw four INT at any given time, and the Bears have trouble putting points up.
Thanks JP! Good work as usual, from all of us in the playoff crunch that is fantasy football…

Hi John,
Need your advise who should I start…
WR = L.Evans, P.Burress, T.Glenn, D.Henderson and K.Johnson – which 3?
TE = J.Witten or B.Watson?
RB = F.Gore, S.Jackson and S.Alexander – which 2 ?
QB = T.Brady or C.Pennington?
THANKS!!!
QB: Brady and Pennington have similar matchups, so go with the better player – Brady.
RB: I would go with Gore and Alexander, due to matchups. I would normally start Jackson ahead of most backs, but Gore has the Packers and Shaun has the Cards. Since Jackson has the Bears, it’s best to play it safe.
WR: Evans, Burress and Glenn…those are your safest starts. There are serious questions about Henderson (2-14 last week with Colston out) and KJ (Weinke at QB).
TE: Watson has the better matchup against MIA and has been more consistent lately.
Is Arnaz Battle a better start than Mark Clayton this week? Clayton has been relegated to punt returns and may not see offensive play this week.
Clayton is a candidate to return punts but will still play WR. I think he’s still a better play than Battle this week.
giants D vs carolina or broncos d vs san diego??
and does it look like colston is gonna be out?
