Theoretically, yes, but after he averaged 20 points and six assists (on 47% FG and 44% 3PT shooting) last season, he will garner much more than the mid-level in free agency. He has said that he wants to return to Houston because that’s where his home and family are, so the Rockets are probably the only team that has a shot at getting him for the mid-level. Considering they’ve already traded him away once, it’s not a sure thing that they’ll go after him.

He may take the mid-level to play for a title, and has said in the past that money is not the most important thing to him. So any team that can provide an opportunity to start and to play on a winner is a possibility.

Mike James is a free agent. Could the Cavs get him for the mid-level exemption?

By the way, I'd much rather see my beloved Bucks land Carlos Boozer than Drew Gooden.

Mike James is a possibility in Cleveland, but the Cavs would definitely need to get a third team involved as the Raptors would have little interest in Gooden. Regarding the trade you described, Magloire has long been associated with Toronto - after all, it's his hometown, and they could use a true center to play alongside Bosh. But Bryan Colangelo has said that the Magloire rumors aren't true and, separately, that he wants to build Toronto in the same mold as Phoenix. Magloire is not a center that would do well in that system. He's a slow, plodding player who would do much better in a half court setting. But you never know, right?

Yeah, I agree with what you said except for the Mike James part at the end. I like him and all, and i think he'd be a great fit too, but you made it seem as if its not possible. What happened to the three-way trade with the Bucks. Do you think theres any truth to it?
--Toronto gets Magloire, Jackson.
--Milwakee gets Gooden( Need a PF to get Bogut back at C)
--The Cavs get MIKE JAMES.
