The official Steelers/Seahawks smack talk thread
Man, I hope Seattle wins. Jerome Bettis overexposure, annoying Steeler fans and Troy Polamalu’s hair make it impossible for me to root for Pittsburgh. Who do you think will win and why? Let’s try to keep it civil, people.

We’ll see if Shawn Alexander really deserved the MVP. He has to get into the end zone in this game.
I agree that the Jerome Bettis story is becoming a little bit annoying. However, to me it just seems like the media and the fans from all over the states are cheering for the Steelers to win, and I believe that is going to play a big part in Seattle losing. I don’t think they will have any fans at the SuperBowl, just like they don’t have any fans in Seattle, and that will bring them down. Steelers rock the “Seahawks” 41-10!
I’m curious to see just how many Steeler fans will be there. The last time they were in a Super Bowl against Dallas at Super Bowl XXX, the Steeler fans outnumbered the Dallas fans. Dallas definitely has a better following than the Seahawks do, so it could be very lopsided.
The fans could have an impact in the game, but I think this game is all going to fall on the shoulders of Ben. Here’s why.
- The Steelers defense will definitely slow down Seattle, if not shut them down. Seattle didn’t play very well against Dallas, the only other team who ran a 3-4 defense against them. The Steelers defense is far better than Dallas’ D running more blitz packages and coverage schemes. The Steelers D confused Peyton, the best QB in the NFL at the line of scrimage, both times they played the Colts this year. I don’t see Matt doing much better. If they just line up head to head and run the plays called in the huddle, the Steelers will stop them.
- Since the passing game isn’t going to be there, Alexander will need a huge game, like 150-200 rushing yards and 2-3 TDs to win this game for Seattle and I don’t see him playing that well against the Steeler’s D. He might get close to 100 yards and maybe score once, but it won’t be a big enough performance to win it.
- The Steelers running game hasn’t been that impressive at all during the playoffs. And if I was Seattle’s coach, I would put all the pressure on a 2nd year QB to beat me. Load up the line and force the Steelers to pass often.
This game is going to come down to Big Ben vs the Seattle Defense. I think that is Seattle’s best chance to win. Who will play better?
If Ben throws 2 or more INTs, Seattle wins. If he throws 0 or 1 INTs, the Steelers win easy. Ben has been solid so far, why doubt him now?
31-10, Steelers
Pittsburgh will have a ton of fans there…the Steeler faithful has always traveled well.
“just like they don’t have any fans in Seattle.”
The Seattle fans are rabid at home…there were more false starts by opponents’ at Qwest Field than any other stadium, including Heinz Field.
How does it feel to hope? Let me know when you’re through crying.
Dude, I don’t think anybody on this thread is a Seahawks fan. You’re bragging to the wrong people.
