I have Clayton, and spent a higher round draft pick on him to bootl. Is there any hope of him turning it around or will this injury hamper him all year long?
I have Clayton in a few leagues as well and it’s not looking too good. There are a couple of things working against him this year. First, he’s got a separated shoulder and it seems to be affecting his performance. Second, the presence of Cadillac Williams has made the Bucs a running team instead of a passing team like they were last year. I think the team would be better off letting him rest for a few weeks, hopefully allowing his shoulder to heal completely. That would probably be the best situation for fantasy owners as well, but all we can do in the meantime is bench him for a better option.
What’s up in New Orleans now that duece is out? Will several guys be sharing the load, or will Smith be the man?
A. Smith will be the main rusher, but Aaron Stecker will likely be the 3rd down running back. The Saints had trouble running the ball with McAllister and things aren’t going to get any easier with Smith in there. Also, since the team is constantly coming from behind, it will probably mean more snaps for Stecker as he’s the better pass catcher. Fantasy-wise I’m staying away from this mess, but if you’re desperate, Smith is worth a look in standard leagues and Stecker might be decent in leagues that reward one point per reception.
How do you think Plummer will do this week against NE? Schwaub seemed to lite them up and he is only like a 2nd year guy. I have Farve on the bye and Plummer is my back-up. Should I pick up Holcome or Schaub from the wire instead?
Plummer is a good option this week. New England’s secondary is very banged up and the Broncos should be able to throw at will against them. Moreover, Brady and the Patriots have opened up the offense since their defense can’t really stop anyone, so this one may be a shootout. The Broncos are focusing on running the ball, but Plummer should be able to do enough (200 yds, 2 TDs) to make him a quality start this week. If you do decide to pick someone up, Schaub has the better matchup against the Saints.
Actually, it looks like Vick is going to play against the Saints, so you should definitely stick with Plummer.
Okay I have a few line up questions. This week, start Bledsoe or Kerry Collins? Keep in mind that I have Terry Glenn starting as well. Do you think Cadillac Williams is going to produce this weekend against Miami?
Bledsoe has a slightly better matchup and is rolling right now, so he’s probably the safer play, though it would be tough to argue against Collins, who is facing the Bolts. With Glenn starting, it might be better to start Collins so that you don’t have all of your eggs in one basket. Cadillac is still listed as questionable and faces a tough Miami rush D so if he plays, I think he’ll have a below average game (70-80 yds, .5 TD).
